on the story or poem or the cover sheet. |
GUIDELINES
 |
Your name and address and
the title of the piece should be submitted to the In-House Competition
Secretary on a separate piece of paper, which can be removed and logged in
before the entries are sent, anonymously, to then adjudicator. |
 |
All competition entries should be printed in 12 point Times New Roman or similar plain
typeface in black ink and on one side of A4 sheets of white paper, double
spaced, with one inch margins all round. |
 |
If you are posting an
entry, do so in plenty of time to get there before the closing date. |
 |
Do not add an extra space
between paragraphs or different speeches in dialogue. Allow a 'time break'
of a blank line only to mark an inch or five spaces (apart from the initial
paragraph of a chapter). |
 |
Do not submit scripts which
are over the word limit - or under if a minimum is specified. |
 |
Each page should be
numbered, preferable as Page 1 of 4, or however many pages are included. It
is helpful if the title of the story appears next to the page number, and
this can be at the top right-hand corner or at the bottom of the page,
separated from the rest of the printing by a blank line. |
 |
Most judges prefer not to
see a cover sheet giving the title of the story, the name of the
competition, the word limit and the actual word count, ie. state the the
exact number of words in the story. Do not put your name on this cover
sheet. We do not separate the pages of a story and its cover sheet, and they
can be paper-clipped at the top left corner to save any going astray. |
 |
Entries must be handed to
the In-House Competition Secretary on the closing date of the competition,
or posted to arrive at her house on that morning. |
 |
Only one entry per person. |
 |
Paid-up members - including
postal members - only. |
 |
We also run a 'league
table' for members entering our competitions. You get a point for entering,
and seven for winning, five for coming second and three for the third place
entry. A Competition Cup is awarded to the member with the most points
gained during the year. |
Please send all postal entries
to our In-House Competition Secretary:
Elizabeth Taylor, 32 Grove
Road, Norwich NR1 2QD
